Served in Well's Regiment in the Revolutionary War. Stephen is mentioned in Hartford Town Records, Vol. 16, from 1783-1786 and in Probate Records, Vol. 16, p. 2; Stephen Bidwell aged 20 years, son of Zebulon, late of Hartford, made choice of his uncle John Bidwell to be his guardian, 26 Aug. 1750. Buried in East Cemetery, Manchester, CT 163
